Dave Allen knows which heavyweight he wants to see Jake Paul take on next.
Former YouTuber turned novice professional boxer Paul has received plenty of credit for being brave enough to fight Anthony Joshua. ‘AJ’ is a former Olympic and two-time unified heavyweight champion, big puncher and a man who stands taller, weighs more and has a much larger reach than him.
However, the contest this past weekend left a lot to be desired, with Paul largely trying to stay safe for the first five rounds before then being caught and having his jaw broken in two places before the referee stopped the fight.
He has now fought 13 times, and lost twice to the two only truly credible boxers on his resume.
Speaking to iFL TV, heavyweight contender Allen reckoned his old foe would be a good next contest for Paul when he returns.
“Johnny Fisher. I like that fight, I think it would be a good fight. Get Johnny paid. I think Johnny Fisher flattens him in one round. Johnny Fisher would just try and flatten him.”
Allen fought Fisher twice, first time losing a controversial points decision, and the second time beating him by KO back in May. ‘The Romford Bull’ has since got back to winning ways with a fourth round TKO of Ivan Baláž earlier in December.
Whether Paul stays at heavyweight despite being a more natural cruiserweight is uncertain, and he would likely be looking for a bigger name when he does return to the ring.
