Dave Allen has offered his take on the upcoming Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte heavyweight showdown.
Allen has enjoyed a career resurgence as of late, thanks to his fifth round knockout victory over Johnny Fisher at the Copper Box Arena last month.
It was one of the biggest wins of Allen’s career, who has previously shared the ring with the likes of Luis Ortiz, David Price, and even Whyte himself back in 2016.
Whyte won that fight by unanimous decision and went on to mount an eventual world title challenge against Tyson Fury. He is now set to take on another Brit when he faces rising star Itauma in Saudi Arabia on August 16.
Itauma has looked unstoppable since making his professional debut, compiling an undefeated record of 12-0, with 10 of those victories coming by knockout.
Whyte meanwhile has taken on fighters such as Fury, Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora throughout his career, though he has been inactive at the top level for a few years now.
Allen has now made his prediction for the fight, explaining on his YouTube channel that he expects an Itauma knockout victory.
“My early prediction would be an Itauma stoppage, in a couple of rounds as well. It’s all about the timing. Even the best Dillian Whyte would be a hard ask [for him] because Itauma is a real scary talent. They’re getting Whyte at the right time, he’s 37, not been in the ring for a long time. So I think Itauma will stop him pretty early.”
Allen isn’t the only big name British fighter to make his prediction for the upcoming clash, with two-weight world champion and now heavyweight contender Lawrence Okolie also strongly backing the youngster.
