Dave Allen has shared his thoughts on Deontay Wilder‘s points victory over veteran heavyweight Derek Chisora.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ defeated Chisora by split decision at the conclusion of their non-title heavyweight showdown at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday April 4.
‘War’ Chisora is now expected to announce his retirement from the sport and bring an end to what has been a rollercoaster professional career for the 42-year-old Brit.
As for Wilder, the 40-year-old from Alabama is expected to fight on, with reports suggesting that he is open to a future clash with two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, British heavyweight Allen shared his thoughts on Wilder’s victory over his countryman as he admits that he believes it was an ‘entertaining watch’.
“I thought it was entertaining in its own way but it was two fellas there really that they’ve had their best days I think … And Wilder, as well as I thought he boxed that was as good as I’ve seen him for a long time.
“I do think it was because he was with another guy that was probably a long way past his best. Chisora’s hardly boxed in the last five years. Not as good as Parker and Zhang but Wilder did look better, but the speed is not there anymore and the desire … I thought it was an entertaining watch.”
Chisora has provided fans with many entertaining bouts throughout his career, especially in the later years, but the multiple time world title challenger must surely walk away from the sport he has given so much to since his debut back in February of 2007.
