Dave Allen has some advice for fellow heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

Allen has been around British boxing for years so has been in plenty of gyms and sparred many of the top fighters of the day.

They include two-weight undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury and also Joshua. Right now, ‘AJ’ is coming off a bruising fifth-round knockout loss against Daniel Dubois and looking for the right opponent for his return.

Martin Bakole is a top ranked contender who has often called him out, but right now, he has his hands full with an IBF eliminator against Efe Agagba.

In a new clip posted on X by Pro Boxing Fans, Allen suggested former two-time world champion Joshua swerves Bakole.

“Bakole is an animal. I’ve seen them spar. The spars I’ve seen were good spars, good competitive spars, but I don’t think it makes sense for Joshua. He’s one of the best heavyweights of his generation, why box Martin Bakole?”

He then suggested two possible opponents for Joshua that would generate plenty of interest for fans around the world.

“If he continues to fight its Fury or Wilder are the two for me. They make sense, there’s a backstory to it, they’d be crazy exciting fights. I would leave Martin Bakole well alone, if I was anybody to be honest.”

Right now, Fury is retired so that is not a fight that can be made, while Deontay Wilder keeps teasing a return to the ring but has not confirmed anything as of yet.
