Dave Allen is hoping for a big year after finding some of his best form, and that could be a fight with a former heavyweight ruler.
Doncaster’s ‘White Rhino’ is a popular fighter both in and out of the ring. His up-and-down career reached new heights recently when he stopped Johnny Fisher in their rematch after a rather controversial draw in their fight, and then he went into a matchup with the towering Russian Arslanbek Makmuhdov.
Speaking recently to iFL TV, Allen expressed his keenness to fight former champion and larger-than-life character Shannon Briggs.
“We’ll do an exhibition. I’m open to doing that. I’d love to share the ring with him in any capacity.”
For his part, Brooklyn’s Briggs was just as keen on the idea.
“I like that, I like that fight yeah, in England, that’s my home, I love it. After I knock out Rampage, me and him.”
Briggs and MMA star Rampage Jackson have been linked to fight a number of times before as far back as 2024, but as of yet it has not happened. ‘The Cannon’ last fought in 2016 and has previously shared the ring with greats like Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko.
Allen is coming off a fine display last time out and has been speaking about stepping up to big challenges again in 2026, likely with more suitable opponents than a 54-year-old Briggs.
