By Marc Livitz in Frisco, TX.: In what could possibly be his last true shot at returning to world boxing prominence, former light heavyweight world champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev took to the scale this afternoon at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, TX. The newly finished, state of the art complex built exclusively for and in the interest as well as promotion of ‘America’s Team’, The Dallas Cowboys will play host to the rematch between the man who was once one of the absolute most feared in the sport and the fighter who knocked him out just as he was on his way back up the pugilistic ladder last August, Eleider “Storm” Alvarez. Their WBO Light Heavyweight World Championship rematch will take place on Saturday evening at around 11PM local time (ESPN+), yet it will be preceded by a showcase of well matched championship bouts featuring WBO Featherweight champion Oscar Valdez against Carmine Tommasone as well as the return of crowd pleasing, lightweight sensation Teofimo Lopez. He’ll square off with former world championship contender Diego Magdaleno. Additionally, Richard Commey and Isa Chaniev will battle for the vacant IBF World Lightweight title. The undercard action kicks off at 6PM CST (ESPN+), then it moves over to ESPN’s main cable station at 9PM for the Valdez/Tommasone bout.
