Amir Khan Sets Deadline For Comeback Fight Against Boxing Legend: “I Definitely Want To Face Him”

Amir Khan has often spoken of his desire to make a comeback to the squared circle.

Khan had a hugely entertaining career with plenty of high-stakes fights, dramatic knockout losses and thrilling up and downs.

The 38-year-old last fought in February 2022 when he was stopped by long time rival Kell Brook in Manchester. Before that he had fallen short against the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Terence Crawford, Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson, though boasted big wins over Marco Antonio Barrera, Paulie Malignaggi and Marco Maidana during his career, which ended with a record of 40 fights, 34 wins and 21 by KO.

Speaking to Genting Casino, Khan outlined what would get him back in the ring once more, and it would only be Manny Pacquiao.

“The best time for it [a comeback] is now, your hands do get itchy. You want to get back in the ring again, but there’s nothing that really excites me. It’s Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. Pacquiao vs. Khan would do massive numbers, that would be an exciting fight. I know he’s fighting Barrios and it’ll put him back in the mix again for a world title. But he knows what makes him money, and what makes him money is a fight with me, or Mayweather, the big super fights.

“I’ll definitely take it. I’d love to share a ring with a legend like him, but I’ll probably draw the line at 40 years old. If I ever did do anything, it has to be before 40. I’m comfortable financially, and I’ve got a good name, but you do miss those arenas. By 40 years old I think I’ll never look at it again.”

Pacquiao returns this weekend at the age of 46 when he takes on WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas in an unlikely world title fight, some three years after his last professional contest. Depending on how he performs, he has said he will be sticking around for more fights.
