Amir Khan hung up the gloves in 2022 after 17 years in the professional ranks.
Khan thrilled fans with 40 fights, bouncing back from an extreme upset loss to win the super-lightweight world title and successfully defend it on five occasions.
He would co-star in fights, albeit defeats, against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford, and claimed the scalps of Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana and Zab Judah.
In his final bout – a long-awaited all-British grudge match with Kell Brook – Khan looked a shadow of his prime and was stopped inside six rounds.
The 38-year-old from Bolton has always discussed a comeback, being linked with crossover stars like Jake Paul and KSI but also naming Manny Pacquiao as a preferred option, and even recent claiming that the Filipino made him an initial offer to make it happen.
Speaking to IFL TV, however, the Olympic Medalist and fan favourite said he has now made up his mind.
“Happily retired, enjoying life. I don’t want to come back. Unless there’s a massive, amazing offer out there. Who knows? The only person to bring me back is Turki Alalshikh I think. I’ve seen all these big fights. But, to be honest with you, I think I’ve made my mind up – I’m just enjoying the sport now. Sitting back, not getting hit, chilling. Living life.”
Khan is instead focusing on his AK Promotions outfit, with a show in Ghana coming up.
“What I’ve done in the sport, what I’ve achieved, and also what I’ve gained from the sport is fantastic. How could I top it off more? I don’t think I can. I’ve ticked all the boxes, done everything. Let’s push the promotional side now.”
It is a sentiment that fans would like so see more fighters expressed, particular in the modern era where comebacks, often dangerous, seem all too common.
