Conor Benn will be moving up the weights when he takes on Chris Eubank Jr. and Amir Khan has experience doing the same.

Khan won an Olympic silver medal at lightweight and then campaigned in the same division once he turned professional. He also won a world title at super lightweight and a version of a world title at welterweight before eventually moving up to a catchweight of 155 pounds and being brutally knocked out by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Benn has so far done most of his work at the welterweight limit of 147, though he has had two contests at 154, and will be stepping up to 160 to fight Eubank, who himself has competed as high as super middleweight against established stars like George Groves, who beat him, and James De Gale, who he beat.

Their grudge match takes place on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and ahead of that Khan spoke to The Stomping Ground and gave his prediction, believing that Benn – who has 14 knockouts from 23 wins – won’t have the power at middleweight to stop the durable, bigger man.

“I think Eubank has got that fight because he’s got the height and the long range.

“One thing about Benn, he likes to fight close. I think Eubank can outbox him but Benn is knocking everyone out cause he has more power at his weight than most at 147. But when he moves up in weight I don’t think he’ll take that power and be able to knock out Eubank.”

The build-up has already seen controversy with Eubank smashing an egg into Benn’s at the first head-to-head.
