Amir Khan has shared his thoughts on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn clash from Saturday night.

Eubank Jr and Benn finally met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, nearly three years after they were originally set to do battle back in October 2022.

Despite it being a long and drawn out saga, it was well worth the wait, as the pair put on an epic 12-round battle which saw Eubank Jr claim bragging rights after winning by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring it 116-112 in his favour.

One man that has been linked to fights with both Eubank Jr and Benn over the years is former world champion Khan, who retired from the sport following a defeat against Kell Brook in February 2022.

Khan has revealed to Boxing News what he made of the fight, praising both men for their efforts but admitting he felt it was closer than the judges had it.

“The fans loved it. It was non-stop toe-to-toe. A lot of punches and a big well done to both fighters. Unlucky to Conor Benn, he boxed out of his skin. It was a closer fight and I thought it could have gone either way.

“A big well done to both fighters, and by Conor going up a weight, I know what it’s like when I went up to fight Canelo. Conor put on a great performance, but overall the best man won which was Eubank. I thought that was going to happen because size matters.

“It was a good fight. We need to see more of it. I do believe there should be a second one. There could be a rematch, it was such a good fight the first one that I think the second one could be as good.”

Khan isn’t the only man who feels the fight was a lot closer than it was, after heavyweight Derek Chisora revealed he thought it should have been a draw.
