A potential fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. has been one of the most talked about events of the last few years.

The fight has captivated the boxing public’s imagination given that their fathers, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr, had a storied rivalry of their own and clashed in two memorable fights in the early 1990s.

A fight between the two boxing sons was originally scheduled for October 2022 but was postponed after Benn tested positive for a banned substance.

Since then he has had ongoing legal battles while trying to regain a licence to box and has had just two contests out in the United States, both of which he won on points.

Eubank Jr has been more busy including two fights with Liam Smith, the first he lost by KO, and the second he won with a knockout of his own.

In October 2024, following his latest victory over Kamil Szeremeta, Benn confronted Eubank in the ring which led to another heated exchange that intensified speculation about a future matchup, and they have previously come head to head in Saudi Arabia.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated that the fight could take place in early 2025, and this week Benn declared that he is now free to fight.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Amir Khan was asked about the main issue around the fight, and that’s the weight difference between the two with Benn being a welterweight and Eubank having fought as high as super-middleweight.

“I think Conor will be thicker and bigger. Benn will change his training. It depends on the fighter you’re facing. If I was fighting someone like Eubank, Conor will hold a lot of power, he might be even stronger at the same weight. I think Eubank is quicker but it depends on the dancing partner you’ve got.”

He then gave his prediction and sided with the bigger man.

“It’s an emotional fight. I don’t think Eubank carries the power that he should. Once Benn goes up I think they carry the same power. I think Eubank has got that fight because he’s got the height and the range. Benn likes to fight close. Eubank can keep it long and outbox him. I don’t think Benn, up the weight, will be able to knock out Eubank.”

It seems right now like this fight is as close as it has been since October 2022.
