Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn finally come together in the ring this weekend and ahead of the contest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Amir Khan has given his take on the power of both men.
Benn was on a good run and building some real momentum before he tested positive for a banned substance ahead of this pair’s first scheduled date back in October 2022.
He had stopped Samuel Vargas in the first round and also knocked out former world champion Chris Algieri. Since the fight was canned, the 28-year-old has fought twice in the US at a higher weight class and been the distance on both occasions.
Eubank is the naturally bigger man who has fought against established world champions as high as super middleweight, but will be hampered by a rehydration clause this weekend.
His last three fights have included a stoppate loss and a stoppage win against Liam Smith, and an 8th round finish of Kamil Szeremeta last time out.
Speaking to Coin Casino, Khan assessed who had more power between the two men and backed the smaller man.
“Conor Benn will be in safe hands, because Eubank’s not the biggest puncher. He’s very technical, but I think Conor might actually be the bigger puncher in that fight by putting a bit of weight on.
“So I think it’s very evenly matched, a good fight for both fighters. I’d say it’s 60–40 in favour of Eubank just because of the weight, the height, and the size. But listen, anything can happen in boxing. Conor Benn could start fast and could go straight in and knock him out early.”
Khan has struggled to decide who will win this fight, having previously told Benn to his face it would be him, but recently he switched sides and went with the more experienced Eubank Jr.
