Kell Brook has teased a comeback after being ringside for the thriller between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.
The ‘born rivals’ delivered a fight that their fathers would be proud of when they met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, Benn moving up two weight divisions from his natural class to meet a more seasoned Eubank who had faced a rehydration clause.
The action was back and forth from the opening bell until the last, and Eubank ultimately ran out a unanimous points winner after finishing extremely well. Brook, like most in attendance, was inspired by the showing and said that he would be willing to come out of retirement to face either man.
Speaking to IFL TV, his last opponent and longtime rival, Amir Khan, encouraged the move, saying ‘Special K’ has what it takes to beat both Eubank and Benn.
“I said, ‘listen, bro, this is where you have to call the winner out.’ I said that to him straight up. One think about Kell is he’s got great timing and he would give problems to either.
“I think Brook should take that one if the money’s right. At the end of the day, I know Brook. What’s gonna really motivate him is the prize money. What’s the prize for this fight. So, yeah, if the paycheque’s good, I think he’s gonna jump at that. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s gonna interest him because why take punches off a young lion when you don’t need to?”
The most likely next step is a rematch, which is contracted, however options do remain open until that is confirmed.
Brook, 39, was last in action back in February 2022 when he stopped Khan inside six rounds. He officiallt retired a few months later, hanging up the gloves as a former welterweight world champion.
