Amir Khan Delivers His Honest Verdict On Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Rematch

Former light-welterweight world champion Amir Khan has shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

It has been revealed in the last few weeks that the legendary duo are in talks to face each other once again, over ten years on from their first encounter which took place back in May of 2015.

Mayweather got the better of Pacquiao in ‘The Fight Of The Century’ at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, defeating the Filipino icon via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles.

As the former pound-for-pound superstars prepare to potentially do battle again, two-time light-welterweight champion and British boxing legend Khan has had his say on the situation, having been linked to fights with the pair on numerous occasions throughout his own career.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Khan questioned whether or not Mayweather is actually interested in sharing the ring with Pacquiao once again.

“It’s not a fight that I think Mayweather wants. I think he’s too busy doing these exhibitions with YouTubers and stuff like that. It would be nice I could get in the ring with Manny.. what a fight that would be. At the end of the day I like to be in the ring with legends, I know that it would be a great fight,”

Whilst it had been initially expected that a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao would be an exhibition contest, it has now been confirmed that the planned bout would be officially sanctioned and would impact the professional records of both men, meaning that Mayweather’s unblemished record of 50-0 would actually be at stake if it does indeed go ahead.
