Two-weight world champion Andre Ward has revealed who he believes to be the greatest fighter in boxing history.

Ward exploded onto the professional scene back in 2004 after he captured a light-heavyweight gold medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

He would go on to capture world titles at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight throughout the course of his 13-year tenure, defeating the likes of Sergey Kovalev, Mikkel Kessler, Carl Froch and Arthur Abraham to name a few.

Ward announced his retirement from the sport in September of 2017 after he racked up back-to-back victories over Kovalev, walking away with an unblemished record of 32-0 to his name.

Speaking on The Ak & Barak Show, Ward didn’t hesitate to name the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson as the greatest fighter of all time in his opinion, after he was asked to pick who he believes was a better fighter between the six-time world champion and his namesake – Sugar Ray Leonard.

“Come on man, come on, Sugar! Nah man, I love Leonard, I love Sugar Ray Leonard, but imma say Robinson, to me, and this changes sometimes but today, that’s my greatest fighter of all time, the amount fights that he fought, the type of guys that he fought, the risks he took, it’s gotta be Sugar Ray Robinson.”

Robinson is widely considered to be one of, if not the greatest fighter of all time in the eyes of many. He fought on no less than 201 occasions during his 25-year professional career, becoming a two-weight, six-time world champion in the process.

As for Ward, he has recently hinted at coming out of retirement for a shock fight against former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
