Andre Ward Predicts Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois Undisputed Rematch: “He Can Do More”

The highly-anticipated Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois rematch is just days away.

The two men will meet at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday 19 July, where a new undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned.

Usyk currently holds the WBC, WBA and WBO titles, while Dubois is the IBF champion, after the Ukrainian had to vacate that belt last year after initially becoming undisputed with a victory over Tyson Fury in May 2024.

It means that Usyk has the chance to become the first two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era, as he looks to repeat the result he achieved against Dubois in August 2023.

Their first bout in Wroclaw, Poland saw Dubois believe he had dropped his rival early in the fight with a body shot, only for it to be ruled as a low blow. Usyk then recovered and managed to claim a ninth round stoppage victory.

Dubois has bounced back since then though, claiming knockout wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua in September, to claim the IBF strap and make next week’s battle an intriguing affair.

One man who has offered his take on the rematch is former two-weight world champion and pound-for-pound star Andre Ward, who told Seconds Out that he is slightly favouring Usyk to be victorious.

“It’s a good fight but you’ve got to lean Usyk just given he’s got more special effects, he can do more. Dubois is not super polished but he’s very strong and polished enough. He can hit hard, we’ve seen him do that. There’s an argument on if he dropped Usyk with the body shot. It’s an interesting fight, it’s a great fight.”

British legend Prince Naseem Hamed is another big name that has offered his thoughts on the upcoming rematch.
