Anthony Joshua has always been keen to grow as a fighter and will see his loss to Daniel Dubois as a learning experience.

Joshua was a latecomer to boxing despite managing to secure Olympic Gold at London 2012. It was always said that he was learning on the job, picking up experience as well as new skills as he progressed quickly through the pro ranks to become a unified champion.

On the way he beat the well-travelled likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker and Alexander Povetkin but took an upset loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. He bounced back from that with a win in an immediate rematch then came unstuck against Oleksandr Usyk in back-to-back fights in 2021 and 2022 before building his way back into world title contention in September.

That fight for the IBF belt against Dubois didn’t go to plan and, after two knockdowns, in the early rounds, he was eventually stopped in the fifth.

Speaking to Fight Hub, he revealed what he took away from the fourth loss of his career.

“You never underestimate your opponent, you never underestimate your opponent, and credit to him and his team.”

It was then put to him that people would level the same criticisms at him as they have after previous losses in the wake of this defeat.

“You can’t worry about what people say, it’s about how you see yourself.”

Joshua has allegedly been ‘pleading’ to his team to allow him to have an immediate rematch with Dubois. However, the plan for ‘DDD’ is to be out next in February and niggling injuries to Joshua means he will not be ready on that date.
