Anthony Joshua recently told our Radio Rahim how desperate he was for revenge over surprise conqueror Andy Ruiz Jr, who upset him via seventh-round stoppage on Saturday in New York and too his belts. Well it now appears as though the former unified world heavyweight champion will get his chance, as promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed on Twitter that, after speaking to AJ and his team, including trainer Robert McCracken, they have activated a contractual rematch clause.

"After meetings with AJ, Rob Mc and the management team in NY, we have today triggered the contracted rematch clause with Andy Ruiz Jnr," Hearn posted. "The fight will take place in Nov/Dec at a venue to be confirmed shortly."

Ruiz was outstanding at Madison Square Garden after accepting the challenge at just five weeks’ notice when Jarrell Miller was ruled out, having failed drug tests for multiple substances. This time both men should have plenty of time to prepare for the other but perhaps the biggest question revolves around the rematch location. Will AJ seek the ultimate redemption by once again returning to the US after his humiliating American debut, or will the Brit prefer home comforts for a fight he really cannot afford to lose? Stay tuned.
