Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will lock horns in a huge showdown later this year.

The pound-for-greats will face each other in a mega-fight at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 12, with Canelo putting his undisputed super-middleweight championship on the line.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara reclaimed the undisputed championship after he defeated former IBF champion William Scull in what was an underwhelming twelve round contest in Riyadh on May 3.

One man who has had his say on the upcoming showdown between Canelo and Crawford is legendary promoter Bob Arum, who has given a fresh honest assessment of what many have described as the biggest fight in boxing.

Speaking in a media scrum, Arum admitted that although the prospect of Alvarez facing Crawford interests him, he claims that he would not ‘pay money’ to watch it based on the Mexican’s recent performances.

“If they’re each gonna fight, really fight, I think it’s terrific, it’s very interesting but again if I had to pay money to watch that fight I wouldn’t do it, because Canelo has shown in his last few fights that he’s just a businessman.

“He’s not in there to entertain the public, he just takes the big cheque, but again if Canelo really fights, because it’s safe to say Terence always fights, so then it could be a very good [and] interesting fight.”

‘Bud’ Crawford is faced with the prospect of becoming a five-division world champion and an undisputed champion at a third weight class should he be successful against Canelo in September, but many are questioning whether the jump up to 168lbs will be a step too far for the 37-year-old switch-hitter.
