Bob Arum Names The Current Fighter Who Would Have Been The Man To Beat Floyd Mayweather

Legendary promoter Bob Arum believes one active world champion would have defeated former pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather.

‘Money’ Mayweather is widely considered to be one of the greatest fighters of all time, proving his credentials on more than one occasion during his decorated 21-year professional career.

He captured numerous major world titles across five weight classes along the way, defeating the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao to name just a few.

Mayweather remained unbeaten for the duration of his tenure, walking away from the sport back in 2017 just a few months on from his victory over MMA fighter Conor McGregor, ending his career with a record of 50-0 to his name.

In the eyes of Hall of Fame promoter Arum however, there is one fighter in particular that would have prevailed against ‘Money’ Mayweather.

In an interview with ESNEWS, Arum made no mistake in backing Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford to be the man to defeat Mayweather.

“Crawford [would beat Mayweather]. Crawford fighting, a guy his size, is unique because one thing that he has that other fighters don’t have is that he’s totally ambidextrous. So when he shifts from orthodox to southpaw he’s equally effective either way.”

Crawford has established himself as arguably the best fighter of his generation in recent years, with some fans and analysts even considering the Omaha-native to be one of the greatest fighters of all time.

The 38-year-old recently etched his name into boxing history books when he dethroned Canelo Alvarez to become the first male fighter to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes, achieving this feat at super-lightweight, welterweight and super-middleweight respectively.
