The fight between Jaron Ennis and Uisma Lima has drawn various opinions from the boxing world.

Ennis made his 154lb debut on Saturday when he went up against Lima at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and it didn’t take the former unified welterweight world champion long to make an instant impact in his new division.

‘Boots’ dropped Lima twice on his way to a first round knockout victory inside the opening two minutes, with the triumph seeing him become the new interim WBA super-welterweight champion.

The win has resulted in many differing views, with some fans praising the performance of Ennis, while others have criticised it as a mismatch and claim it did nothing to show the true ability of the American.

One man who is always happy to offer his expert opinion is top trainer-turned-analyst Teddy Atlas, who has now weighed in with his take.

Posting on social media, it seems Atlas was extremely impressed with Ennis, after stating he believes that ‘Boots’ is ‘the full package.’

“On [my] podcast I picked Ennis and the under [rounds] because Lima gets caught with uppercuts. That started it. Boots is the full package.”

The victory for former WBA and IBF welterweight champion ‘Boots’ has seen him extend his unbeaten record to 35-0, with 31 of those victories coming by knockout.

Boxing fans have already began to suggest possible opponents that Ennis could take on in 2026, and ‘Boots’ himself has made it clear who he wants to be his next opponent at 154lbs.
