David Avanesyan Has Now Compared The Power Of Terence Crawford And Jaron Ennis After Facing Both

Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis are known to carry power in their fists.

Crawford is 41-0 with 31 stoppage victories, and the reigning WBA super-welterweight champion, having already held world titles from lightweight to welterweight, becoming undisputed at 140 and 147lbs.

After ‘Bud’ had his IBF welterweight title taken from him, Ennis picked up the strap, and currently holds a record of 32-0, with 29 wins by knockout.

One man who has shared the ring with both fighters is David Avanesyan. He fought Crawford in December 2022, suffering a sixth round stoppage defeat, and was then beaten inside five rounds by Ennis in July 2024.

Avanesyan’s trainer Carl Greaves has discussed both men whilst speaking with BoxingScene, beginning with who he deemed to be the busier of the two.

“Boots Ennis is the more busy, more active fighter in my opinion. He’s a bit younger and a bit fresher. On the other hand, Crawford is very, very patient. His timing is very good and he plans just the right attacks at just the right times whereas Ennis was more busy.”

Greaves then revealed who Avanesyan judged to be the more powerful fighter.

“I think that Crawford is a heavier handed fighter.

I was talking to David and he said that Crawford hits harder but that ‘Boots’ Ennis was a bit sharper and busier.”

Ennis is set to return to action on November 9 when he defends his IBF welterweight title against mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian, and one of his long-term sparring partners has predicted how a fight against ‘Bud’ would go.
