Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has been defeated just twice in 66 contests, but a current world champion on a four-fight stoppage streak believes he has what it takes to make that three.

The Mexican fighting icon has won world titles in four weight classes and currently holds three of the four major belts at super middleweight. He is undefeated in the division, having lost only to Floyd Mayweather at a lower weight and Dmitry Bivol up at light heavy.

As the biggest box office star in the sport, Canelo’s name is on the lips of many champions, rising stars and top contenders. The latest man to throw his hat in the ring for a future fight is IBF and WBO Middleweight World Champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, who called out the 34-year-old straight after his most recent victory.

“Canelo! Where are you? I am the king of middleweight! You think you are a king too! Let’s show the world a fight between two kings!”

Janibek – who brands himself the sport’ most avoided champion – is fresh off yet another knockout win, this time in a defence against Anauel Ngamissengue in his home country of Kazakhstan.

He has made it clear in the past that he would rather move up a division to challenge Canlo rather than further unify the 160 ranks against the likes of Carlos Adames and Erislandy Lara.

Though the fight would present one of the more intriguing match-ups for Alvarez, the Mexican is currently booked for the rest of the year. He faces IBF Super Middleweight World Champion William Scull on May 3 in a bid to become two-time undisputed before heading straight into a September mega fight against Terence Crawford.
