A Hall of Fame great has urged Mario Barrios to announce his retirement from boxing just days after he was beaten by Ryan Garcia.

Barrios was floored by ‘King Ry’ in the opening few seconds of their showdown at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night before he was eventually dethroned of his WBC welterweight title after a disappointing 12-round effort.

‘El Azteca’ made just two defences of his WBC welterweight title although his respective clashes with Filipino great Manny Pacquiao and Abel Ramos were declared draws, meaning that he would retain his belt by default.

Whilst Barrios is expected to take a period of time away from the sport before he makes a decision on what will be next for him, retired two-weight world champion Tim Bradley has revealed exactly what he believes ‘El Azteca’ should do.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bradley slammed the former WBC welterweight champion for his performance against Garcia as he urges him to ‘hang the gloves up’ following his last two outings.

“You already know I’m here to talk about this damn Ryan Garcia [vs] Mario Barrios fight. That’s what I’m here to talk about. Mario Barrios made Ryan Garcia look like he was Manny Pacquiao or Bruce Lee, you know what I’m saying?

“Like, what the hell was that Mario? Come on, man. I told y’all. I told y’all before. I said “Man if y’all don’t get this done against this man Ryan Garcia bro, both of y’all suck” … This is a horrible performance by Mario Barrios man. You need to hang them up bro. Yeah, you need to go my dude for real.”

Bradley’s harsh call for Barrios to retire serves as a reminder that a fighters fortunes can change overnight, which is undoubtedly the case for ‘El Azteca’ who is now faced with making arguably the toughest decision of his entire life.
