Barry Jones has gone into detail about how Derek Chisora‘s fight with Deontay Wilder might play out.

Few people saw this coming for Chisora’s 50th fight. He has long been talking about this contest being his last, and it was strongly suspected that a trilogy with Dillian Whyte would be how he ended his storied career.

But instead, the popular London-based heavyweight has signed to fight with Wilder, who is a former long-reigning WBC champion.

However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has not been at his best for some years, ever since he was knocked out in two of his three fights with Tyson Fury.

Since then, he has also been stopped by Zhilei Zhang and beaten on points by Joseph Parker. He fought once in 2025 and got a KO win over the low-ranked Tyrell Herndon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, former world champion Jones broke down the contest and sided with ‘Del Boy’ for the win.

“The Wilder we have seen recently doesn’t make a dent. He has tremendous power, and Chisora is not hard to find, though he does move his head more than people give him credit for.

“I mean, he can dog it out better than anybody in that division. Wilder, not being the biggest guy having Chisora leaning on you and pushing on you back, every round methodically pushing forward, slipping a shot, throwing a right hand over the top.

“I’m just not sure if mentally, Wilder will be there. I think he’ll fold unless we see some of the old Wilder, where he is snappy with his shots. But we haven’t seen that Wilder for a long, long time, and I’m not sure he’s there anymore.”

The fight is scheduled to take place in the UK in April 2026 and will likely be the final fight for whoever loses, with the winner possibly going on to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
