Tony Bellew Changes His Fury-Usyk Rematch Prediction: “He Won’t Get Away With That This Time”

Tony Bellew has changed his mind about what happens when Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk rematch one another on December 21.

The first fight between these two heavyweight greats was a close run thing back in May. At the conclusion of 12 rounds, it was the Ukrainian who came out on top having landed the best shot of the fight in the 9th round. It caused Fury to fall into the ropes and take a standing eight count from the referee and meant he fell behind on the cards and Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion for over 20 years.

Back in the summer, Bellew was confident that former foe Usyk, who was also the undisputed cruiserweight champion, would repeat his win in the rematch and defend three of the four major world titles he still posses after one had to be vacated to honour the second Fury fight.

Now, speaking to October Red, he was asked what he thinks and is now unsure of the outcome.

“Do you know what, I don’t know.

[Usyk] was that good, and he won in a manner and a way I never thought he would. I picked him to win from the start because I know what he can do. I know how good he is. But I’m not going to lie, I didn’t make the correct analysis on how he would win. I thought he’d box on the back foot and move. To bully him was unreal to watch. I was sitting thinking wow, what is going on. The middleweight is bullying the heavyweight.

I don’t think he can do the same again, he won’t get away with that this time because Fury will know.”

Should Fury get the win, he has already spoken about the need for the pair to fight for a third time to settle the score one and for all.
