Tony Bellew has been weighing up a potential clash between Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois.
Right now, these two men are at very different places in their careers. Fury is currently retired and has been since January, following back-to-back losses to the great Oleksandr Usyk. Before that, he was a two-time world heavyweight champion with superb wins on his ledger, including a win over Wladimir Klitschko and two knockouts of Deontay Wilder.
He lost both fights to Usyk on points, including the first one in May 2024 which was for undisputed honours.
Dubois has also lost to Usyk, back in summer 2023, when he was stopped inside nine rounds after having the champion down with a shot that was controversially ruled low. He will get a second chance at the Ukrainian two-weight undisputed legend in July when he puts his IBF belt on the line for the chance to become undisputed himself.
Should Dubois win, he said he is open to facing ‘The Gypsy King.’ Speaking on talkSPORT Boxing, Bellew was asked who comes out on top and said that it very much depends on the motivation behind Fury stepping through the ropes once again.
“Wow. I have to see Tyson Fury back in the ring, cause if Tyson Fury is back just for money, that will show up on fight night. If he’s back just for money, then it will show.
“If he’s back for legacy, then that’s a different animal you’re dealing with, that’s a hungry fighter, and that’s a dangerous fighter.”
