Fabio Wardley‘s stoppage victory over Joseph Parker has caused a lot of debate in the boxing world.

Wardley claimed a stunning 11th round knockout win over Parker at The O2 Arena in London on Saturday to ensure he remains undefeated and seemingly puts him in the driving seat for a shot at undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk next year.

It saw Wardley once again come from behind to claim the win, having lost the majority of the rounds before ending it in the penultimate round.

It comes four months on from when he did similar against Justis Huni, where the Australian controlled the action before he was stopped in the 10th round at Portman Road in Ipswich back in June, displaying just what big power Wardley possesses.

While the stoppage over Huni was a lot more conclusive, this time the bout against Parker was waved off by referee Howard Foster while the New Zealander was on the ropes attempting to defend himself, with some onlookers claiming it was done prematurely.

Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew is one who has weighed in on social media with his verdict, agreeing that he thinks it was a ‘bad stoppage.’

“That’s a bad stoppage! At this level of boxing the stoppage has to be definitive! That wasn’t! Well done to both fighters btw! Really good competitive fight.”

One man who knows Wardley extremely well is his stablemate and fellow undefeated heavyweight Moses Itauma, and he has also shared his thoughts on the stoppage victory over Parker.
