Fans have already began to speculate about who Moses Itauma could face next.
Itauma continued his rapid rise in the heavyweight division on Saturday when he went up against former world title challenger Dillian Whyte in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It was billed as being the toughest test of Itauma’s career so far due to Whyte having operated at the highest level in the past, but it resulted in yet another destructive first round knockout, as he dispatched of ‘The Bodysnatcher’ inside two minutes to extend his undefeated record to 13-0, with 11 of those wins coming by knockout and now 8 of them inside the first round.
Following his victory, the 20-year-old confirmed he’s set to return to action before the end of 2025, with an array of potential opponents being suggested, including undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew believes he knows the perfect opponent though, as he posted on social media that Itauma should face a former unified world heavyweight champion after his ‘scary’ ability to stay so calm and cool at such a young age.
“He’s a brilliant fighter with all the tools at his disposal! The fact that he’s so cool and calm is scary.”
“I think a very good fight for him would be Andy Ruiz.”
Ruiz became WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion when he claimed a shock stoppage victory over Anthony Joshua in New York in June 2019, but he would lose the belts in the immediate rematch with Joshua six months later after being heavily criticised for the condition he came in for the bout.
Since that loss, Ruiz has claimed wins against Luis Ortiz and Chris Arreola, but last time out was held to a majority decision draw against Jarrell Miller in August 2024.
