David Benavidez Makes New Canelo vs Crawford Prediction: “It Tells You All You Need To Know”

Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to clash in a highly anticipated mega-fight later on this year.

The pound-for-pound stars had been in negotiations with one another for a number of months before it was finally revealed earlier this year that they would clash in what has been described as one of, if not the biggest fight in boxing right now.

Crawford is bidding to become a five-weight world champion against the Mexican superstar, who currently holds the WBC, WBA and WBO world titles at 168lbs.

The 34-year-old from Guadalajara has been a consistently dominant force at super middleweight, with victories over the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jaime Munguia and Jermell Charlo.

One fighter who has spoken out and shown an interest in the battle between two of boxing’s biggest names is David Benavidez, who is known to have had Canelo on his radar for the last couple of years.

Speaking on BS w/ Jake Paul, Benavidez claimed that although he wouldn’t be surprised if ‘Bud’ beats Canelo, he believes the weight difference will most likely be the deciding factor.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Crawford wins but I wouldn’t be surprised if he loses either. I think Crawford’s a tremendous fighter, he has a great IQ in boxing but I think you know the weight difference is just too massive.

Not to knock Crawford off but you know he didn’t really look as strong at 154, so he’s still gonna go up two weight classes to 168 so I mean I think that just tells everything that needs to be said on its own.”

Should ‘Bud’ be successful against Canelo, it would undoubtedly be one of the greatest ever achievements from a fighter.

The 37-year-old is once again daring to be great, but standing in his way is a fighter whose fighting style has caused so many problems for the majority of the 66 opponents he has faced in his career.
