Conor Benn is still reeling from his defeat to Chris Eubank Jr and now his thoughts have turned to a rematch.

The loss to Eubank Jr was the first of Benn’s career, but it did come up at 160lbs after his first fight up at that weight. He put on a good showing across all 12 rounds, particularly early on when he threw and landed plenty of shots, even seeming to hurt Jr in round two.

However, Eubank Jr rallied and got back into the contest and ended up looking stronger as the fight went on, no doubt in part due to the fact that he is a more natural 160lbs fighter who has campaigned as high as 168lbs in the past.

Both fighters were taken to the hospital for precautionary checks after the fight and were discharged on Monday. Now, the decision has to be made whether they do it all again.

Speaking to iFL TV, Benn admitted that if there is to be a rematch, it must be next while he remains up at the correct weight.

“No [I’m not dropping and then going back up to 160]. I’ll either do the rematch at 160 next or drop to 147 and stay there.

It’s hard for me to accept that he’s beat me and not avenge the loss. We’ll see. I know that the rematch clause is there. All the terms have been agreed so let’s wait and see.”

With an agreement already in place for a second fight, September back at the same Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been mentioned as a possible date and venue for the pair to go at it again.
