Conor Benn will be rematching Chris Eubank Jr in November, but he is already talking about his next challenge after that.
Benn will be looking to improve on a solid albeit losing performance last time out against his generational rival. The 12-round war back in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was an engaging battle that saw Eubank Jr use his natural size advantages and superior experience to pull away and secure a unanimous decision win.
Both men spent a night in the hospital recovering from their injuries, with Eubank in particular suffering, given his more demanding pre-fight weight drain.
The same weight limit and rehydration clause will likely be in place the second time around, although Eubank has said he is yet to agree to those terms.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Benn admitted that whatever happens against Eubank, he already has plans to face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in his next fight.
“I want to fight for the WBC world title next. For me, that’s the priority. I know Mauricio Sulaiman will bless that fight, given history and my dad with the WBC world title.
“See if we can make that Barrios fight next, immediately, providing Barrios wants the fight, which we’ve had communication from him and his team and that’s the fight that will highly likely happen next for me at 147.”
Benn has not yet challenged for a world title, so Barrios would be another hard night. Barrios fought to a draw with Manny Pacquiao back in July, having initially won the interim WBC title against Yordenis Ugás in 2023 before being upgraded and then defending it against Abel Ramos.
