Bernard Hopkins Names The Top 5 Greatest Fighters Of All Time

Bernard Hopkins is one of the most accomplished fighters of the last three decades.

Known as ‘The Executioner’, Hopkins enjoyed an impressive professional career which saw him win world titles in two divisions, as well as holding the undisputed middleweight championship for four years between 2001 and 2005.

He made boxing history back in 2013 when he became the sport’s oldest ever world champion, defeating countryman Tavoris Cloud via unanimous decision to capture the IBF world light-heavyweight title.

Hopkins made one successful defence of his IBF crown before he eventually added the WBA title to his collection when he outpointed Beibut Shumenov in 2014, although Hopkins would go on to suffer defeats in the final two outings of his career against Sergey Kovalev and Joe Smith Jr respectively.

Speaking to See Hendo, Hopkins was asked to reveal who he believes are the five greatest fighters of all time in his opinion.

“Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Alexis Arguello [and] me.”

Sugar Ray Robinson is widely regarded as one of the greatest pound-for-pound boxers in history with a dazzling career spanning welterweight and middleweight dominance.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler was an undisputed middleweight champion known for his granite chin and punishing southpaw style.

Alexis Argüello was a revered Nicaraguan knockout artist who won world titles in three weight classes and was celebrated for his precision and sportsmanship.

All of the aforementioned fighters, including Hopkins, are legendary in their own right, notably Muhammad Ali, who transcended boxing and reached levels of fame like no other.
Ali is one of, if not the most influential figure in the history of the sport, with his incredible legacy living on in the present day. His 1974 showdown with ‘Big’ George Foreman, which is perhaps best known as ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’ is one of boxing’s most memorable moments.
