Artur Beterbiev will rematch Dmitry Bivol for all four light-heavyweight belts to top what will likely be recognised as one of the best boxing cards of all time.
The pair first did battle in October with Beterbiev ending his perfect knockout streak but doing enough to beat the game Bivol on the scorecards. Most felt it was razor thin, others believe Bivol’s work was the more effective. All agree that a rematch was a must and the pair have now inked a deal to run it back on February 22.
It is the main event of a Riyadh Season card that is stellar in its matchmaking. Chief support is Daniel Dubois’ second defence of his IBF World Heavyweight Title against former champion and the division’s form-man, Jospeh Parker.
Shakur Stevenson returns from injury to defend his WBC Lightweight belt against up-and-comer Floyd Schofield, Britain’s Hamzah Sheeraz gets a well-deserved world title shot in the middleweight ranks against Carlos Adames and Vergil Ortiz Jr takes on a stern test in Israil Madrimov at 154 pounds.
Also on the card is an all-British light-heavyweight clash between Joshua Buatsi and Callum Smith, with the winner set up well to take on whoever comes out on top in the main event, that is if there isn’t a triology.
Opening the card is a heavyweight match-up between China’s ‘Big Bang’, Zhilei Zhang, and German’y monster slayer Agit Kabayel. A fight of that magnitude – and for the WBC Interim Title – to kick off proceedings is a genuine treat for boxing fans.
