Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is a fight that will not go away.

This coming together of two generational rivals was due to happen in October 2022 but Benn failed a drug test late in the day and the fight was cancelled. He has since battled to prove his innocence but has failed to regain a licence to fight from the British Boxing Board of Control.

He has fought twice since out in the United States and taken points victories against little-known opponents, while Eubank Jr has fought three times.

He lost to Liam Smith by stoppage and then reversed that result the second time round before getting another stoppage win against Kamil Szeremeta last weekend.

Benn was at that fight and stepped into the ring for a head-to-head as the pair continued to promise the fight between the two would be made.

Speaking to iFL TV last year, former Eubank victor and fierce rival Billy Joe Saunders was asked who he would favour if the two were to meet in the ring.

“I think myself personally, Conor is a lot younger, a lot fresher, and off of the performance of Liam Smith, the first fight, when Liam wasn’t injured, you’ve got to fancy Conor Benn.”

He then discredited Eubank for his rematch win over Smith.

“Listen, I give anybody credit for the win but people look at his win against Liam Smith and say it’s the best he’s ever boxed. Well if you’re boxing someone basically with their arms tied up just walking forward, you’re going to look like Muhammad Ali. And he didn’t even look like that. Every time he went to get hit, and he will know what I’m talking about, every time Liam Smith wanted to let his hands go, he’s gun shy, and you know your gun shy.”

Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Turki Alalshikh wants to make the fight happen and that it could take place in Saudi Arabia in 2025.
