Dmitry Bivol has shared his insight into the upcoming showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico reclaimed the undisputed crown at 168lbs with a unanimous decision victory over former IBF champion William Scull on May 3, although many viewers have criticised Canelo for his performance against the Cuban.
Ahead of the upcoming mega-fight between Canelo and Crawford, unified light-heavyweight champion and former opponent of the Mexican star, Dmitry Bivol, has predicted what he believes the outcome will be when the pound-for-pound stars lock horns later this year.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Bivol appeared to give his backing to ‘Bud’ Crawford ahead of his former opponent.
“I think Crawford wants this fight a lot. He wants this fight and I think he will be a lot more active than Canelo’s previous opponents and he has a different mentality. He has a champion mentality. I think the fight will be much more interesting.”
Crawford will become the first fighter in male boxing history to achieve undisputed status in three weight classes should he be victorious over Canelo in September.
The 37-year-old switch-hitter from Omaha, Nebraska has had an exceptional professional career to date, where he has won world titles across four weight classes as well as the undisputed championship at super-lightweight and welterweight.
‘Bud’ is faced with the task of moving up two weight classes ahead of his showdown with the Mexican icon, who has been a dominant force at 168lbs since making his debut at super-middleweight back in 2018.
