Legendary promoter Bob Arum has made a sensational prediction ahead of the mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Las Vegas is set to play host to the huge showdown between two of boxing’s biggest stars this September, with Canelo putting his unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles on the line against ‘Bud’ Crawford.

Both fighters had reportedly shown a serious interest in facing each other, following Crawford’s victory over Israil Madrimov to capture the WBA light middleweight title back in August. After months of speculation, the fight was finally agreed with Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh playing a major role in negotiations.

Ahead of their clash later this year, promoter Arum has spoken out and revealed what he believes will happen when the pound-for-pound superstars lock horns in arguably the biggest spectacle in boxing.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, 93-year-old made no mistake in backing Canelo to get the job done against ‘Bud’, claiming the 34-year-old will ‘wipe the floor’ with the American great.

“I think Canelo wipes the floor with him.

I love Crawford, I told you when Crawford was fighting Spence that Crawford would beat the hell out of him.

But Canelo is a different proposition. It’s an interesting fight, but I think there’s only one winner. Canelo is used to fighting at a particular level and I don’t think that Terence can hurt Canelo, but Canelo can hurt Terence.”

Canelo is faced with the prospect of becoming a two-time undisputed super middleweight champion in May when he clashes with IBF champion William Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 34-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico held all four of the world titles at 168lbs up until last Summer, before he was stripped of the IBF crown when he opted to face Edgar Berlanga Jr instead of Scull, who was mandatory challenger at the time.
