Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is a Hall of Fame boxing promoter who has worked with some of the biggest stars in the sport.

Before getting involved with the fight game, Arum was an attorney in the tax division of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. His first brush with boxing came when he was instructed by the Department of Justice to confiscate proceeds from Sonny Liston’s world heavyweight contest with Floyd Patterson in 1962.

His legendary promotion started soon after when he worked on the early fights of Muhammad Ali. Since then he has promoted several super-fights including Marvin Hagler versus Roberto DurĂ¡n and Hagler versus Thomas Hearns as well as Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather while working with stars of the sport like Miguel Cotto, Tyson Fury and Oscar De La Hoya.

Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Arum was asked about many of the fighters he has worked with over the years.

He picked Fury as the hardest to negotiate with, Pacquaio as the biggest crossover star and named the most intimidating as current undisputed light heavyweight ruler Artur Beterbiev.

He was also asked who was the hardest fighter he ever managed and didn’t hesitate to name one of the all time legends of the sport.

“Floyd Mayweather Jnr.”

After a good relationship with Mayweather from his first fight in 1996 until 2006, things eventually turned sour and Mayweather accused Arum of underpaying him and exploiting his talents so famously bought himself out of his contract and began promoting himself.
