The Only Man To Fight Both Terence Crawford And Vergil Ortiz Jr Has No Doubt Who Hits Harder

Terence Crawford and Vergil Ortiz are both undefeated in their respective careers.

Crawford is a four-weight world champion, having began his campaign at lightweight and worked his way up the divisions, first becoming champion at 135lbs in 2014.

He would go on to then become undisputed at both super-lightweight and welterweight, before moving up to 154lbs in his last bout and defeating Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super-welterweight title.

Ortiz is also a top contender at super-welterweight, after moving up from 147lbs last year due to issues making the weight in that division.

In his last fight, Ortiz won the WBC interim super-welterweight title after recovering from two knockdowns to defeat Serhii Bohachuk by controversial majority decision, the first time that Ortiz has gone the distance in his career.

One man who knows what it feels like to share the ring with Crawford and Ortiz is Egidijus Kavaliauskas, who collided with both men while they were each competing at welterweight.

‘Mean Machine’s fight against Crawford came in December 2019 and ended with the American claiming a ninth round stoppage win. The Lithuanian was then stopped in the eighth round by Ortiz when they met in August 2021.

Having experienced the power of both men, Kavaliauskas didn’t hesitate when asked by Fight Hub TV who out of Crawford and Ortiz hits harder.

“I think Vergil Ortiz has more power. He’s a more powerful and more stronger and aggressive guy.”

Ortiz looked set to face Jaron Ennis in February, but the fight couldn’t be agreed and Ortiz will instead face former Crawford foe Madrimov. A win there will be the strongest case for a shot at the pound-for-pound king.
