Dave Allen ensured there would be no controversy this time around in his rematch with Johnny Fisher.

The two heavyweights met at the Copper Box in London, five months on from their controversial first meeting in Saudi Arabia which Fisher won by split decision, despite many fans believing that Allen should have got the victory.

In their first fight, Allen had knocked Fisher down in the fifth round, and that round proved to be crucial again, as the Doncaster heavyweight dropped his rival, before finishing him off at the end of round five with a huge shot.

Allen was most likely down on the scorecards before he pulled off the huge stoppage, in what is set to be one of the best knockout wins in a British ring in 2025. Here’s how some of the boxing world reacted to the fight…

Tony Bellew

“The pressure was too much for Johnny. Dave Allen old manned Johnny tonight here … He just got moved around the ring too quickly, exerted far too much energy. It was inevitable. From round 4 onwards I knew it was coming.

“I have no idea, it’s such a long road back. His weaknesses and frailties have now been truly shown.”
