Boxing World Reacts To Jake Paul Beating Mike Tyson On Points: “That Was Pointless”

Jake Paul coasted to victory against 58-year-old Mike Tyson over eight rounds.

After an initial postponement due to medical issues on Tyson’s part, the pair met in Texas to deliver on their controversial contest. It was branded in poor taste by many due to the risks posed for Tyson, 58, who retired back in 2005 when Paul was just seven years old.

The former undisputed heavyweight world champion assured fans that he had what it took even at this age to ‘end’ Paul, who stepped through the ropes with a record of ten wins and one loss. That wasn’t to be the case. Tyson’s legs looked like lead from the opener and Paul, after a cautious start, would land pretty much at will thereafter. It was an underwhelming main event after a bombastic promotion, but nobody was hurt.

Paul won by unanimous decision with official scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

Here’s how the boxing world reacted.

“Great fight and a great event and I’m just glad nobody got knocked out”

Terence Crawford

Shakur Stevenson

Tony Bellew

Conor McGregor

“A 16 minute spar in sparring gloves. F**k off”
