Katie Taylor retained her super-lightweight titles with a narrow unanimous decision victory over Amanda Serrano.
The two legends of women’s boxing were competing on the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul card, in a rematch of their epic first encounter in April 2022.
It was Taylor who claimed a split decision win on that occasion, and history repeated itself as she managed to overcome a point deduction due to alleged headbutts to defeat Serrano, who suffered from a bad cut throughout the fight.
All three judges had the fight 95-94 in favour of Ireland’s Taylor for her to retain her undisputed super-lightweight championship. As with any close fight, there was some controversy from fans and pundits. The Netflix broadcast team had it in favour of Serrano, as did some prominent names in the boxing world. The likes of Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson felt the result was fair.
