Tim Bradley believes that ‘time is up’ for one legendary world champion in particular.
Bradley became a two-weight world champion during the course of his professional career, which spanned for 12 years between 2004 and 2016.
He held the WBC light-welterweight twice between 2008 and 2011, and the WBO light-welterweight title from 2009 and 2012, before he made the move up to welterweight where he held the WBO title on two occasions between 2012 and 2016.
Bradley racked up a number of impressive victories throughout his tenure, defeating the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson and Ruslan Provodnikov amongst others.
He also shared the ring with eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao on three occasions, defeating the Filipino icon in controversial fashion their first encounter in June 2012 before he was beaten in their rematch and trilogy bout in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel. Bradley shockingly claimed that he believes his former rival’s ‘time is up’ in the wake of his sensational return to the ring against Mario Barrios.
“I’m gonna keep it real, Manny Pacquiao’s time has been up. You know the fact that he’s a special type of athlete, he’s a legend, he’s able to get in there with Mario Barrios who basically somewhat carried this guy, man, he carried Manny Pacquiao.
I don’t care what anybody say, he carried him. Yes, all he had to do was step on the gas especially in the middle, the back end of the fight where he’s the younger fighter. He has more energy, he could have gave more effort because obviously he got hit with some straight left hands and he was able to take it but it didn’t seem like he wanted to.”
Pacquiao clashed with reigning WBC world welterweight champion Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night, fighting to a majority decision draw against the 30-year-old from Texas.
It was the 46-year-old’s first ring appearance since June of 2021 when he was beaten by former WBA world welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas, before going on to announce his retirement from the sport shortly after.
