Hall of Famer Tim Bradley believes there is just one fighter capable of stepping into the shoes of Terence Crawford after he walks away from the sport.
‘Bud’ Crawford wrote his name into the boxing history books yet again last week as he defeated Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez to capture the undisputed super-middleweight championship at a sold-out Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Victory for Crawford meant the 37-year-old Omaha-native became the first male fighter in the history of the sport to win an undisputed championship in three weight classes, having already achieved this feat at super-lightweight and welterweight.
As Crawford enters what appears to be the final chapter of his decorated professional career, two-weight world champion Bradley has revealed who he believes will step into the shoes of ‘Bud’ when he eventually walks away from the sport.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Bradley backed unbeaten American star Shakur Stevenson to be the ‘next G.O.A.T’ and follow in the footsteps of Crawford.
“Who’s next to take over the throne when Crawford retires? I got an idea. His name is Shakur Stevenson. You heard it here first. Believe me or don’t believe me. Shakur Stevenson is going to be the next GOAT up on that throne.”
Stevenson currently reigns as the WBC lightweight champion, making his latest defence against Mexico’s William Zepeda at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York City on July 12.
The 28-year-old from Newark is expected to make his return to the ring during the early stages of 2026, with reports suggesting that he could face WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez next.
