Tim Bradley has shared his verdict on the outcome of a potential clash between Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez.
Newark-native Stevenson currently reigns as the WBC lightweight champion, making the latest defence of his belt back in July when he defeated Mexico’s William Zepeda via unanimous decision in what was a career best performance by the 28-year-old.
As for Lopez, ‘The Takeover’ made the third consecutive defence of his WBO super-lightweight title on May 2 when he outpointed mandatory challenger and countryman Arnold Barboza Jr at the iconic Times Square in New York City.
The bout has generated a lot of buzz in the boxing world, and one man who has now had his say is former two-weight world champion Bradley, who defeated the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez during his own career.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Hall of Fame inductee Bradley didn’t hesitate to back Stevenson to defeat Lopez in emphatic fashion, as he claims the WBC lightweight champion ‘already knows’ he can get the better of his fellow countryman.
“Now you’re going to fight another G.O.A.T of another generation, of this generation? That’s going to be a problem my big dog.
“I’m letting you know and your fans know too, that’s going to be a problem because Teofimo Lopez, you’re not beating Shakur Stevenson, you’re not.
“I know your habits, he knows your habits, he sees already how to beat you, he knows already how to beat you.”
Stevenson has emerged as one of the biggest stars in the sport over the last few years and he could back these claims up once again should he go on to defeat ‘The Takeover’ and become a four-weight world champion in the process.
