Tim Bradley has weighed in on the upcoming light-heavyweight clash between David Benavidez and Anthony Yarde.
‘The Monster is set to make the first defence of his WBC light-heavyweight title against Yarde on Saturday November 22 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Having held the interim version of the WBC light-heavyweight title after defeating Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June 2024, Benavidez was elevated to full champion earlier this year after Russian great Dmitry Bivol vacated the strap to pursue a trilogy clash with Artur Beterbiev.
This will be Yarde’s third attempt at winning a world title at 175lbs since his debut back in 2015. He fell short in his first attempt when he faced Sergey Kovalev in 2019, and then once again four years later when he was beaten by former undisputed champion Artur Beterbiev.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, two-weight world champion Bradley didn’t hesitate to back a stoppage victory for Benavidez, as he claims ‘The Monster’ is going to ‘whoop’ Yarde when they clash later this year.
“Let’s talk about Benavidez and Yarde man, I’m just going to give y’all it right now, Imma let y’all know right now, Yarde about to get his behind whooped. He about to get whooped, stomped on, stomped, knocked out. Y’all heard it here man, I’m trying to warn everybody man … Benavidez too long, just the wrong style for him, you know.”
Should he come through his maiden world title defence unscathed, Benavidez will be targeting the winner of the trilogy bout between Bivol and Beterbiev, which looks likely to take place during the early stages of 2026, with an official announcement yet to be made.
