Heavyweight KO Artist Shannon Briggs Tells Fighter To His Face That He’ll Make A Comeback For Him

Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs has revealed he would be interested in making a shock return to the ring against one man in particular.

The 54-year-old from Brooklyn was last in action back in May of 2016 when he stopped Argentina’s Emilio Zarate in the opening round of their bout at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Briggs previously held the WBO world heavyweight title after stopping Siarhei Liakhovich in the 12th and final round of their clash at the Chase Field in Pheonix in November 2006.

‘The Cannon’ was dethroned of his crown in his next fight however, suffering a shock unanimous decision defeat to Sultan Ibragimov in Atlantic City just seven months later.

The hard-hitting American has left the door open for a return to the ring since his last outing and he could now be on the verge of turning this into a reality.

In footage shared by iFL TV, Briggs appeared to be open to the idea of sharing the ring with MMA legend Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as he claims he would be interested in facing his countryman in both the ring and the cage.

“I told him I’d fight him in MMA. A boxing match and then an MMA fight, two fights. I fought K1, I ain’t scared of no wrestler. I’ve done MMA, I’ve actually been doing some lately. You see I’m getting in better shape.”

Jackson has been retired from professional MMA since 2019, but the 47-year-old from Memphis has kept himself in shape and could now be in line to make the transition into boxing and lock horns with Briggs in the near future.
