The Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford mega-fight is edging ever closer.
It sees two of the best pound-for-pound fighters go head-to-head, as Crawford steps up to 168lbs to challenge Canelo for his undisputed super-middleweight title at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 13.
Canelo is currently in his second reign as undisputed champion, with his first reign beginning in 2021 when he knocked out Caleb Plant to become the sole ruler of the division.
Having shared the ring with Canelo, Plant has now given his verdict on this month’s clash with Crawford, telling Fight Hub TV how he sees it playing out.
“I think it’s going to be a good fight. It’s going to be an exciting fight and there’s definitely going to be some back and forth. A lot more punches thrown than the Scull fight, I was expecting that with the Scull fight… That’s a stylistic match-up. It’s going to be a completely different stylistic match-up between him and Bud and it’s going to make for a good fight.
“Regardless of how the fight itself plays out, I feel like the betting people will have Canelo as the favourite simply because Terence is moving up a couple weight classes and people will say there’s weight classes for a reason. It doesn’t matter what the betting odds say though, I’ve been the underdog a few times, odds only mean so much, when the bell rings the fighters get to figure it out.”
Plant was then pushed to pick a winner, but admitted he found it too close to call.
“I don’t know. As a fan I’m excited to see the fight and from the boxing knowledge I have which I feel is decent, I think it’s going to be a real good fight.”
While Plant may be unable to decide who comes out on top, fellow former Canelo foe Sergey Kovalev is certain who will be victorious.
