Caleb Plant knows what it is like to be in the ring with Canelo Alvarez and he’s now shared his verdict on the clash against Terence Crawford.
Canelo and Crawford are reportedly set to meet in a huge showdown in Las Vegas in September, with an official announcement expected in the near future.
It sees ‘Bud’ jumping up two weight divisions from super-welterweight to super-middleweight for the clash against Alvarez, looking to become a five-weight world champion in the process.
Canelo has never lost at 168, and defeated Plant back in November 2021 to win the IBF title and become undisputed super-middleweight champion in the process, though he has since been stripped of that belt.
Having experienced first hand how it feels to be stood opposite Alvarez in the ring, Plant explained to Fighthype how he sees the fight against Crawford going, admitting that ‘Bud’ isn’t like most fighters.
“Terence is not a regular guy. He’s special. Canelo is a top notch fighter, a world class fighter who is still near the top of the pound-for-pound list, so it’s exciting.
“I give Crawford a chance. Terence is freakishly strong. He has good crack and can fight both ways, orthodox and southpaw. He can fight at mid-range, close-range, outside, he can fight going both ways.
“It’s a big question mark on the end of it though so that’s why we are all excited for the bell to ring and we can find out first hand.”
While Canelo vs. Crawford is the plan for September, a shock fight has emerged for Alvarez which he may first be part of in May.
