Canelo Alvarez has spoken for the first time about the proposed Jake Paul fight.
A whirlwind few days began when Canelo’s planned fight with Terence Crawford was abruptly reported as being off, with that then leading to the Mexican superstar being linked to a shock clash against Youtuber-turned-boxer Paul.
Paul was last in action in November when he defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson in an extremely controversial bout due to ‘Iron Mike’ now being 58-years-old and competing for the first time in nearly two decades.
With the Canelo vs. Paul fight reported as being on the verge of being agreed, at the 11th hour the Crawford bout was then resurrected, and is set to take place in Las Vegas in September.
It didn’t take Paul long to let his thoughts be known, claiming that Alvarez has ducked him by not taking the fight, and that he is the new face of boxing.
Alvarez has now given his take on the matter in a video posted by The Ring, hitting out at Paul and telling boxing fans not to listen to what he says.
“Hey guys, don’t pay attention or anything to this f***ing YouTuber. I just fight real fighters, no f***ing around with Canelo.”
Canelo is set to return to action in May in Saudi Arabia before the clash against Crawford in September, but it is currently unknown who Paul may turn his attention to after the collapse of the bout with Alvarez.
It hasn’t taken some big names long to call out ‘The Problem Child’ for a fight though, with a former world heavyweight champion stating that he wants to fight the Youtuber-turned-boxer.
